People begin to spot the real Vanguard roaming the streets of Chicago, and The Dragon suspects that the one in custody is in fact a fake. The Vanguard shape-shifting clone, Lurch, is then accidentally set free, and battles The Dragon. The real Vanguard enters the frey, and a confusing three-way battle between him, The Dragon, and Lurch wages until Wally and Roxanne Wells arrive with Vanguard's translating helmet. All is settled, Lurch is subdued, but then Wally attacks Vanguard.
